Founder & Board Chairperson
THE Amy Johnson
Amy Johnson is the Founder and Board Chairperson of Face-to-Face. Amy offers decades of experience working with and leading some of Portland's best-known nonprofits. She has been a board member of the Portland Rose Festival for more than 17 years (and is a 1996 Rose Festival Princess!). She previously served as long-time Executive Director of Michael Allen Harrison’s Snowman Foundation which provides musical instruments and instruction to youth.
As a consultant, Amy has worked for many years assisting nonprofit organizations in creating sustainable, internal structures and achievable, realistic goals. Her consultancy includes work for Big Brothers Big Sisters Columbia Northwest and the Friends of Outdoor School. Amy is a proud graduate of David Douglas High School in SE Portland. She holds a B.A. in Communications.
Amy is passionate about gardening—her pandemic garden included 32 tomato plants—and she loves cooking, canning, and sharing whatever she grows. Her two teenage children are consistently mortified by their mother’s mere existence, but her German Shepard will still be seen with her in public, fortunately, because they walk seven miles a day together.
Amy’s work with the police grew out of watching the deterioration of trust in her community. She has always been deeply committed to solutions that engage people in unique ways, especially at the very core of human relationships. She hopes to inspire others to turn skepticism into a desire to create a better future for all of us.
